The end is nigh! And the good news is the furniture school exhibition is taking place and you're invited.
Initially, there were plans to exhibit in the Edinburgh Botanics Garden, however with covid putting stops to that, the school have worked their socks off to ensure an exciting show takes place. So, the details you'll want to know:
The Chippendale School, Myreside Grange, Gifford, East Lothian, EH41 4JA
Wed 14th- Fri 16th Oct: 10am-8pm
Sat 17th Oct: 10am-4pm
Face masks required
What to expect? With 20 students working on the course, there are over 50 pieces to admire or purchase, ranging from traditional handcrafted coffee tables to more contemporary and unusual pieces. I would love to put a few sneak peeks here but it wouldn't do the students justice. I would highly recommend sparing some time to support the students, especially given how many are looking to continue as makers thereafter.
Why visit? As this is a graduate exhibit, it's the perfect place to view completely original designs at graduate prices. Given how many students have tried something completely new, the exhibits are definitely conversation-starters. And you never know, it may trigger inspiration for your own bespoke designs.
Finally, there have been many people sending support throughout the year and I would like to thank them. I appreciate that Scotland is a reasonable distance for many but don't worry, there will be professional snaps uploaded at a later date for those unable to make the journey.
